Yasouj Sugar Plant was revamped and renovated after a decade of being closed and it will be inaugurated during the Ten-Day Dawn. The Plant's capacity was increased in terms of agriculture and sugar beet production. Alireza Arghaee, the director for non-metal industries at the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO), made the abovementioned remarks, adding that the project was fully implemented under efforts of domestic experts at the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization. Arghaee went on to say that the sugar production technology at the Yasouj Sugar Plant, which had been related to 50 years ago, has now been updated to the latest technology. This issue has increased the production capacity and efficiency, as well. The unit for producing sugar from sugar beet, which had been closed for 10 years due to being worn-out, has now been commissioned with the annual capacity to produce 100,000 tons of sugar beet to 15,000 tons of sugar, he noted. It was closed down and then was transferred to the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization in 2000 for getting revamped and renovated. Some 200 individuals were working in the company and hundreds of people were working indirectly in relation with the company. But, worn-out machinery, low production capacity, and accumulated debts, had faced the company with severe problems, so that renovating the production line and increasing the production capacity were approved and were implemented. The renovation operations have come to an end and the new production line is ready to be commissioned. Farmers from Kohkilouyeh-Boyerahmad, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari, Isfahan, and Fars become prepared to farm sugar beet and sell their yield to the Yasouj Sugar Plant in the next farming season.
