Busan Mayor Urges Closer Ties between Seoul and Tehran
Dr. Mansour Moazami, IDRO chairman as well as deputy industry minister, held talks with Suh Byung-soo, Busan mayor, during which the South Korean official called for expansion of industrial relations between Tehran and Seoul. The Seoul mayor visited Iran at the head of a delegation to exchange ideas on a range of issues of mutual interest, including those relevant to the industry sector.
Providing a brief description of the industrial status and situation of Busan as the second largest city in South Korea, Byung-soo urged closer ties between South Korean and Iranian companies. He also emphasized that South Korea thinks of establishing long-term relations with Iran and is interested in partnership with Iranian companies and participation in the Iranian market, expressing satisfaction over agreements signed on shipbuilding and maritime industries projects.
At the end, the head of the South Korean delegation expressed hope the meeting will result in tangible outcomes.Also, in the session, Dr. Moazami welcomed the visiting delegation, hailing Tehran-Seoul ties as long-standing, historical, and strategic. He emphasized that “We have made it clear to South Korean companies that they should avoid looking at the Iranian market from a purely consumerist perspective.”
Dr. Moazami also urged joint partnership between Iranian and South Korean business owners.
Referring to the huge investment potential in shipbuilding and maritime industries sectors of Iran, the IDRO chairman underscored that South Korean companies can finalize joint ventures with Iranian partners in the sectors via financing and technological transfer.
