Construction of a 260‑Megawatt Solar Power Plant on IDRO’s Agenda
The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO) stated that, with the aim of developing renewable energy and addressing environmental challenges, the organization has placed the construction of a solar power plant with an initial capacity of 260 megawatt on its agenda.
According to IDRO News, Farshad Moqhimi, on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of Decade of Fajr projects in Esfarayen, told IRNA that the process of constructing a 260‑megawatt solar power plant is being pursued.
He noted that this project is part of IDRO’s comprehensive program to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and to resolve energy constraints faced by industrial units.
Referring to actions taken in the field of clean energy, he added that 60 megawatts of electricity generation capacity have so far been added to the national power grid through facilitation efforts by this organization.
The Chairman of IDRO continued: in addition to the 260‑megawatt project, a *260‑kilowatt solar power plant is currently under construction, which demonstrates the organization’s focus on simultaneously implementing both small‑scale and large‑scale projects.
Moqhimi also pointed to a 16.5‑megawatt investment in solar energy projects in Esfarayen County, describing these projects as examples of IDRO’s regional programs to ensure a sustainable energy supply for industrial units.
Explaining the financial backing of these projects, he stated that the total projected investment in this sector exceeds 10 trillion rials, a significant portion of which is being allocated through facilities provided by the National Development Fund for solar energy projects.
