Development Plans in Venezuela Provide Good Opportunities for Exports: Commercial attaché
The Iranian commercial attaché in Venezuela has said that development plans in Venezuela have provided good opportunities for Iran to boost exports of technical and engineering services to Venezuela.Commercial attaché Iraj Zare’i made the announcement in a meeting between economic entrepreneurs of Kermanshah province and commercial attaches of Iran in Oman, Iraq, India, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan. He referred to close political and economic relations between Iran and Venezuela in recent years, saying that Venezuela has the world’s largest oil reserves and stands first in the world in this respect.Venezuela is a profitable consumer market for Iranian goods, he said, adding that the highest need is to technical and engineering services. For the time being, Iran is carrying out $3 billion worth of technical and engineering projects in Venezuela, he noted.Zare’i went on to say that 10,000 residential units have been constructed by Iranian companies in Venezuela so far, and 10,000 other ones will be delivered to their owners within the next few months. Another project aiming to build 7,000 residential units in Venezuela is underway, he added. The Iranian commercial attaché in Venezuela touched on a project for building three 113,000-ton-capacity ships for Venezuela, saying that one of the ships has been delivered to Venezuela and two others are being built. He also said that 10 flour mills have been built in Venezuela and 28 dairy plants are being built by Iranian companies in the country. At present, a cement factory is being built with an annual production capacity of one million tons. Once the factory comes on stream, it will meet 15 percent of Venezuela’s need to cement, he noted.“Two passenger car manufacturing plants to assemble Pride and Samand cars, as well as a tractor manufacturing factory, have been jointly launched in Venezuela. The two passenger car plants have manufactured more than 16,000 cars over the past eight years. Thanks to their higher prices compared with other brands of car in Venezuela, they have been profitable for Iran,” he explained. He referred to the U.S. as the top trading partner of Venezuela in the past, adding that China has taken the lion’s share of Venezuela’s market in recent years, so that China’s exports to Venezuela have grown by 200 percent over the past decade.Zare’i touched on development plans in Venezuela for the future, saying that building three million residential units by 2019 in Venezuela is underway. Iranian development and construction companies can participate in the projects, he stated.
