IDRO Launches “300 Places, 300 Plans” Project to Develop Underdeveloped Regions
Eng. Gholamreza Shafei, the chairman of the board of directors of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO), has appointed Mohsen Sharifinia as the new director of the department for planning and human resources development.
During a ceremony for introducing the new director of IDRO for planning affairs, Eng. Shafei stated that the department is tasked with planning for the entire organization and assessing activities of different sections of the organization. Proper planning and assessing activities require cooperation and coordination among all departments of the organization. It should be accomplished under a full unison, he noted.
Considering the government’s expectations in provincial trips and expectations of the members of the parliament for establishing industrial units in different cities, the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization has proposed the “300 Places, 300 Plans” project with the goal of establishing new industrial units and transferring them to the private sector. It is hoped that the project would be approved soon by decision-making bodies, the IDRO chairman added.
Shafei went on to say that due to ceding shares of IDRO subsidiaries based on policies of the Article 44 of the Constitution, sufficient budget should be secured both by the administration and the parliament in the national budget act for implementing the “300 Places, 300 Plans” project.
Shafei, who is also the deputy minister of industry, mine, and trade, added that the mentioned plans are considered as medium-size ones. If 200-300 billion rials is assumed to be spent in each plan, 60-90 trillion rials will be needed to implement all the plans. The budget should be provided within 2 years time, he noted.
Technical and economic studies related to a number of the plans have been completed. Some of the plans benefit from high technologies and their implementation has been approved in previous years by the government, he said.
It should be noted that Dr. Gholami, the former director of IDRO for planning affairs, was honored in the ceremony.
Mohsen Sharifinia, the new director of the department of planning and human resources development of IDRO was born in 1961. He is a graduate of metallurgy engineering from Sharif University of Technology and holds a master’s degree in systems programming.
He has previously served as the director of IDRO for marine industries, machinery and equipment manufacturing, the director general for assessment and supervision at the ministry of industry and mines, the director general for contractors and consultants of the Planning and Budget Organization, and the head of Tehran Province’s Planning and Budget Department.
