French Institute of Petroleum to hold seminar in Iran

​According to Fardad Daliri, IDRO vice president for industrial investment, the French Institute of Petroleum (IFP) will hold a seminar in Iran on the role of powertrain component in sustainable transportation. In addition to being active in oil and gas sectors, the IFP active in the designing of car engines and has recently commenced cooperation with Iran to reduce transportation-sourced air pollution. Negotiations have been held with the French institute, which oversees more than 12,000 researchers, and it has agreed to share with Iran the latest achievements in the field of fuel efficiency and air pollution control, Daliri said.“The French institute will be holding a seminar in Iran on the role of powertrain components in sustainable development where they will present the latest developments in diesel and gasoline engines, gas-sipping engines, and electronic and hybrid automobiles,” Daliri was quoted as saying. Slated for July 17-18, the seminar will be attended by research institutes affiliated with the country’s automotive industry, oil and energy ministries, the Department of Environment, vice presidency for science and technology, the Interior Ministry, and representatives from municipalities. The IDRO official stressed that addressing challenges such as pollution goes well beyond the responsibilities of a single organization, demanding cooperation and coordination among a number of organizations, including the automotive industry, university and research centers, and oil and energy ministries. Referring to previous cooperation between the IFP and Iran’s Oil Ministry, Daliri underscored this is the first time the French institute enters cooperation with the Iranian automotive industry.The cooperation is in line with materializing the goals set for the country’s automotive industry in 2025 Outlook Plan, according to which automotive and fuels standards have to meet Euro 6 requirements.The French Institute of Petroleum - IFP Energies Nouvelles - is a French public-sector research organization founded in 1944. Its stated mission is to develop, through industrial innovation and training, clean and economically viable technologies in the fields of energy, transport and the environment. It aims to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and expertise between research agencies and industry. The development of CO2 capture, transport and geological storage processes is one of five core areas of work.With offices in Paris, Lyon and Pau, it receives funding from the state as well as from the French private sector and international partners. Its staff of around 1,700 provide a network of expertise as well as access to facilities and testing resources. The IFP School offers graduate training programs for engineers, designed to match industry needs. The organization itself has more than 40,000 technology patents filed in France and throughout the world.
