IDRO highlights cooperation with Indian carmakers

The Indian ambassador to Iran DP Srivastava in a meeting with the managing director of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO) emphasized on boosting cooperation in different fields of industry, such as car, oil and gas sectors.

He named Iran as the most advanced Islamic states, saying that Iran and India should put the signed agreements into effect.

IDRO director Majid Hedayat said for his part that the organization is considered as the country’s key entity in biotechnology, renewable energy, ship building as well as oil and gas industries.

The two sides have agreed to expand cooperation in joint ventures, as well as technical and engineering investments, Hedayat said.

We have negotiated with a number of large carmakers and we think the two sides have the potential to expand bilateral ties, he noted.

The advisor to the association of Iranian carmakers has said that some European automotive companies have adopted bellicose attitude toward Iran. Replacing them with Indian carmakers would be an approach to confront the European companies, he added.

Davoud Mirkhani said that Indian carmakers have been successful in cooperation with large international carmaker. So, Indian companies can be an appropriate substitution for European ones, he said.

IDRO put cooperation with capable domestic carmakers and foreign automotive companies on agenda one and a half years ago, he said, adding that 5-6 Indian carmakers are of reasonable quality level and are in cooperation with accredited international companies.
