IDRO launches four national maritime projects
IDRO launched four national maritime projects at Bandar Abbas on October 25 in a bid to flourish the country’s maritime industry, according to IDRO Chairman Dr. Mansour Moazami.
The projects include 1) designing, building, loading, and installation of Platform 17 of Iran’s South Pars gas field, 2) designing and building the third Iranian ocean liner, 3) completing dry docks in Azim Gostaresh Hormoz Company, and 4) starting construction of an international maritime industries town.
On Kashan Container Ship, the third one fully designed and built by Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Company (ISOICO), the IDRO chairman said the ship is superior to it foreign lookalike qualitatively.
With a capacity of 2,200 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU), the ship is 158 meters long and 30 meters wide, with cruising speed of 21 knots.
Dr. Moazami also stressed that the maritime industry is a strategic industry in the contemporary world and building big ships demands technology and knowledge
On the international maritime industries town, the IDRO chairman said it will pave the way for the region to flourish.
In addition to providing infrastructures related to the maritime industry and all other relevant industries, the complex will generate employment opportunities directly and indirectly.
