IDRO deputy director for high-tech industries:

Iranian-made bio-implants highly demanded in international markets

The deputy director of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO) said that Iranian-made bio-implants are highly demanded in international markets and the current volume of supply does not meet the needs.

Mehrdad Sabbaghi referred to Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey as the main buyers of Iranian-made bio-implants, saying that skin, ligament ad bone bio-implants are highly used in regional countries, to the extent that Iranian producers are under pressure to supply sufficient amounts of the products to the market.

We are making effort to remove problems of high-tech industrialists and expand production lines and establish new supply centers in order to meet the needs of both domestic and foreign markets, because the ground has been laid to increase the share of high-tech exports in the non-oil exports of the country.

The deputy director of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization went on to say that the private sector has been producing ocular bio-implants. Physicians should change their attitude and use domestically-made products, he added.

For the time being, a number of medical centers use domestically-made ocular bio-implants, Sabbaghi said, but foreign buyer have welcomed Iranian-made products more significantly, he noted.

He emphasized the need for information dissemination about advantages of using bio-implants in the treatment of most of bodily impairments, saying that some regional countries used to use American-made ocular bio-implants, but they preferred to use Iranian-made products due to their higher quality and lower price.

The deputy director of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization added that more information dissemination is needed to publicize the use of Iranian-made bio-implants. Scientific-based advertising should be expanded in this regard, he noted.

Scientific forums and even in scientific and specialized TV programs should promote the advantages and functions of bio-implants in the treatment of diseases and bodily impairments. People should get acquainted with advantages of such high-tech products, he said.

People should know that in severe injuries and bodily damages, a section of the cut organ can be used as the raw material for producing bio-implants which can be used to repair the same organ, he concluded.
