National aviation industry should be supported
Eng. Shafei visiting airplane production site:
National aviation industry should be supported
The government should support the national aviation industry as an important and strategic high-tech industry, Eng. Gholamreza Shafei, the chairman of the board of directors of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO) stated.
Paying a visit to Dorna Aerospace Company accompanied by Dr. Manouchehr Manteqi, the managing director of the Aviation Industries Organization, Shafei said that development organizations should not enter the fields in which the private sector is already active. They should support domestic producers through offering effective approaches, he added.
Referring to the fact that the interest rate of banking facilities, which are paid to the industry sector, is high, he said that the government should pay a percentage of the interest to support the domestic production, especially high-tech industries.
The existing facilities should be paid in a managed method to some prioritized and high-tech industries, including the aviation industry, he noted.
Shafei, who is also the deputy minister of industry, mine and trade, said that imposing appropriate charges on the importation of light planes was among another solution to support the domestic producers. We urge officials to impose appropriate charges in order to help promote the use of domestically-made products, he said.
IDRO supported the idea of producing light weight planes through paying financial facilities to high-tech projects. A number of such planes have been manufactured and are ready to be transferred to the private sector, he added.
It should be mentioned that the IDRO chief and the managing director of the Aviation Industries Organization, accompanied by a number of IDRO managers and experts, paid visits to different activities in Dorna Aerospace Company for manufacturing light weight planes.
