Online Car Sales Hit $1.5 Billion in 5 Months
Online car sales in Iran amounted to 47 trillion rials (about
$1.5 billion) in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year,
which began on March 21, showing more than one hundred percent rise year on
year.
According to the public relations department of Ima Electronic
Gostaresh Consultants (MEGA), the developer of the national comprehensive web
portal of cars, main domestic carmakers sold as much as 47 trillion rials of
cars via the web portal www.iranecar.ir in the first five months of the current
year, more than doubled compared to the 22 trillion rials online sales of cars
in the same period of the previous year.
The main carmakers sold 168,000 cars with prices below 300
million rials (about $9,300) in the first five months of the current year,
showing 60 percent increase compared to 100,000 cars which were sold in the
same period of the past year.
Also, 45,000 cars with prices of above 300 million rials were
sold in the first five months of the current year, showing a five-fold rise in
comparison to the same period of the past year.
It should be noted that since the inauguration of the web portal
of cars in 2008, more than 262 trillion rials worth of cars have been sold
online through the web portal.
