Sweden to Open Trade Office in Tehran
IDRO, Swedish delegation hold joint meeting,
A delegation of Swedish economic and industrial enterprises, comprising industry owners and managing directors of a number of companies, held a meeting with Dr. Mansour Moazzami, the deputy industry minister as well as the chairman of the board of directors of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO), and a number of his deputies and directors of the organization.
During the meeting, the head of the Swedish economic, industrial, and business delegation, Ilwa Berry, referred to the fact that Sweden has long-term plans to boost presence in the Iranian market and that many Swedish companies are interested in creating joint ventures with their Iranian counterparts. The Swedish official went on to say that representatives of many companies with various subjects of activity, such as Volvo, Scania, and Ericsson are participating in the meeting and are negotiating with their Iranian partners.
She touched upon the issue of banking relations between Iran and Sweden, saying that negotiations on banking issues started a long time ago. Meanwhile, negotiations are underway with the central bank to remove extant problems in order to make European companies able to begin work with Iran rapidly, she added.
The head of the Swedish economic, industrial, and business delegation added that transfer of technology will be started concurrent with commencement of cooperation between companies of the two sides. Moreover, Volvo and Scania will come to Iran with their full car assembly lines so that job creation for Iranians will become higher, the official noted.
The Swedish official also pointed out that Sweden will inaugurate a trade office in Iran in the near future, saying “Now after the removal of sanctions new opportunities have been created. Our decision to open a trade office in Iran indicates our determination to boost cooperation in the fields of business and investment in the future.”
