Tender to Be Held for Foreign Investment in Manufacturing 2,000 Wagons
IDRO vice chairman for industrial investments development:
The vice chairman of the board of directors of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO) for industrial investments development said at present there are several Iranian companies active in the field of wagon production, but due to financial problems they are not able to manufacture 2,000 wagons on their own.
Therefore, considering the law for the maximum use of domestic companies, foreign partners can provide finance for manufacturing these wagons, Dr. Fardad Daliri said, adding that to select a foreign partner a tender will be held, according to IDRO News.
“The Ministry of Interior as the employer has introduced IDRO as the project manager for providing 2,000 wagons for urban subways. It is planned that IDRO to use foreign finance for this project. IDRO will hold the tender on behalf of the Ministry of Interior,” he explained.
In response to a question regarding whether a probable deal between the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways with Kazakhstan in the field of wagon production interferes with the project for manufacturing 2,000 wagons for IDRO, he replied “Production of 2,000 wagons is related to urban subways. If a deal is reached with Kazakhstan it will be related to intercity railways.”
